As a Realtor whose mother was a school teacher and two sons in the military, I have a special place in my heart for these and other heroes in our communities; and as my way of saying ‘Thank You’ for all that you do, I gift a portion of my commission to my seller/buyer clients to help them with their closing costs through a program called Home Town Heroes.

Not all agents are created equal. We all have different backgrounds, skill sets, and personalities. Make sure you pick one that’s right for you and don’t feel obligated to sign any contracts if you are not 100% sure you want to work with a particular agent. For example: Buyers, did you know you can test drive an agent by signing a one day or a one week contract? Sellers did you know you can negotiate the commission’s on both the seller’s and the buyer’s side? There is no such thing as a ‘standard’ rate even though many believe it’s 6%.
On a final note, a really good Realtor is more than just a ‘deal closer’. The best ones will assist a buyer, save money, save headaches, looks out for their best interest, and ensures that their biggest asset is well protected. And, for the sellers, we make sure your house is marketed effectively, priced well, offer advise & tips, and assist with back and forth negotiations to ensure you don’t get taken advantage of by unethical agents and/or sellers.
